Music Careers in Public Education

Each year the Center for Music Learning sponsors Music Careers in Public Education, a one-day workshop designed to acquaint music students in all disciplines with the profession of teaching in primary and secondary schools. Outstanding alumni of the Sarah and Ernest Butler School of Music who are enjoying successful professional lives as choral, instrumental, and elementary music teachers return to campus to share their experiences and discuss the challenging and gratifying aspects of their work. Students in the Butler School are afforded formal and informal opportunities to talk with these successful alumni and learn about their lives as teachers and about preparing for a life in public education.
