Master Teachers in Music DVD ProjectThe Master Teachers in Music DVD Project is an ongoing research program that will result in a published collection of DVDs that display illuminating analyses of expert teaching in music. The subjects of the collection include nationally and internationally recognized expert teachers from all areas of music and all levels of instruction. This DVD series promises to be a rich resource for practicing teachers and teacher educators, explaining systematically the mechanisms through which expert teachers accomplish important learning goals. (It is anticipated that these DVDs may be published through the new School of Music label proposed through the Center for American Music.) The Master Teachers in Music DVD Project involves advanced graduate students in the recording and analysis of expert teaching from a broad spectrum of the music community. Through active participation in research on the nature of expertise associated with the Master Teachers in Music Project, graduate students apply the latest technologies in behavioral analysis while working to develop a deeper understanding of the teaching-learning process.
